Thus these two "bad" planets are in mutual aspect starting in late August (Similar thing can find in the natal chart of Adolf Hitler). simultaneously receiving the malefic aspect of Mars. The energy pattern is strong for Transformative Events, potentially Violent.
As Saturn entered libra the sign of its exaltation back in 2011 there have been many changes in the government, many scams were unearthed, many people suffered the results of their bad karmas.

GURU CHANDALA YOGA

GURU CHANDALA YOGA

In vedic astrology Guru Chandala yoga is formed when Guru (Jupiter) is in conjunction with Rahu. Jupiter transits a sign in one year. Similarly Rahu transits a sign in roughly 1 ½ years. The conjunction between Jupiter and Rahu will take place every 7- 8 years.

This is because JUPITER is not only considered the purest of all the planets and as such is regarded as a morally strong teacher and benefactor, and therefore, in most cases is expected to do good and remove all obstacles in the life of the native provided it is not seriously challenged in the chart. RAHU being a shadow planet acts as a powerful ecliptor, who can diminish good works of any planet and SUN. Therefore this Yoga is not regarded as morally good by any measure.

.
This yoga is formed when Jupiter is in conjunction with or is aspected by Rahu or Ketu The native is prone to act immorally and perform many misdeeds. However the results are not as frightening as they are made out to be. Different results are obtained for the combination in different houses however if benefic planets are present with this combination or this combination is aspected by benefic planets the results are auspicious as the inauspiciousness decreases.

In different houses this combination gives different results as

If Guru Chandala yoga is found in First house then the native will be very ambitious and self centred. This postion will give the native a desire to succeed in the material world. It gives wealth and riches to the native. This position also gives knowledge and makes the native learned and respected. But this position will give a suspicious nature and many vices to the native like lack of gratitude, selfishness, to portray others in the negative light. There will be a desire to live in solitude.

If Guru Chandala yoga is found in the Second house and Jupiter is a benefic planet then the native will amass a lot of wealth. He will be very extravagant and will be successful. If Jupiter is malefic then this position gives distress, mental stress and suffer losses. The native will become a pauper.

If this combination occurs in the 3rd house then the native is poisonous in his speech. He will be very peculiar in his thoughts. He will never think twice to betray others and climb the ladder of opportunity. If Jupiter is malefic then the native spreads a lot of hatred around him. These individuals are very courageous and are successful in the fields where courage is required.

If this combination is in the 4th house then the native will be deceitful and cunning. He will have good ability in convincing others. There will be chaos in the domestic life. The native may own more than one house. However the native is successful in the field of education and earns wealth
.
If the combination is in the 5th house then the native is very unfortunate in matters regarding religion, progeny. There will be trouble in having children. Enemity with children, even death of children is indicated. But if Jupiter is benefic and Mercury is with this combination then the native is very learned.

This combination in the 6th house will give success to the native. He will amass a lot of wealth. However the health of the native will always be dicey. The native is likely to suffer from diseases of the intestine and also diseases which are not easily detected. These natives are very critical of their religion and may change their religious beliefs during their life time.

This combination in the 7th house will bring chaos in the married life of the individual. Many secret clandestine affairs by the partner is indicated due to these combination. The native may not get a pious partner. However if Jupiter is benefic and receives benefic aspects then the life of the native is inclined to spirituality and religious activities.

This combination in the 8th house will bring destruction and an unexpected end to the life of the native. The native is likely to suffer from accidents. Benefics aspecting this combination gives mysterious and occult knowledge.

This combination is worst if it occurs in the 9th house. The native may be an illegitimate child. The native is averse at the very thought of religion and principles. The native would derive satisfaction from breaking all norms and religious beliefs. Such natives spread wrong beliefs and principles about religion. The means and methods adopted to achieve success is questionable. But if Jupiter is in own house as benefics aspect this combination then the native is learned, pious and respected for his knowledge.

This combination in the 10th house makes the native successful in achieving whatever he desires. However the means and methods adopted to achieve success is questionable.

In the 11th house the native becomes very wealthy and Rich. However this is not good for begetting children.

This combination in the 12th house makes the native very unfortunate. He will be foolish and disrespected by others. He is likely to be punished for wrong doings. A secluded life is indicated. However if Jupiter is benefic and benefic planets aspect this combination then the native can be very active in religious matters. He may work in temples and religious ashrams.

The psychology of natives with Guru Chandala yoga is inheritant in the birth chart. The natives will have lack of gratitude. They do not like to take initiatives and need the support to perform their activities. They however do not acknowledge the support of their mentors after achieving success. They are not able to think straight and often surprise you with their decisions. They are very selfish and do not admire others. These qualities will be activated during the Dasha / Antardasha of Jupiter or Rahu.

There are many different ways in which remedies are possible. The commonest remedy being a combination of three Pujas:
1 - Puja for Guru, Jupiter
2 - Puja for Rahu. (Naga Puja)
3 - Pujs for the Lord of Planet in the rashi wherin Guru-Chandal yoga materializes
4. Puja for Vishnu  and Vishnu Sahasranam Japa

Foreign Travel

Travelling abroad is one of the cherished dreams of most Indians, and thanks to the blooming IT industry and the increased demand for English-efficient and conscious work-force, a large number of Indians are traveling abroad and realizing their ambition. But there are few people who can turn their dream into a reality.

Astrologically one can interpret which chart have chances to going abroad.
People visit foreign countries for various purposes some  for vacations, some on business trip, some students  for further higher studies. But most of them go on the basis of immigration.

Foreign trips and the related houses in a Janma Kundali

Primary houses for foreign journey are 3rd, 9th and 12th house.

If these houses fall in moveable signs such as Aries(Mesha), Cancer(Kataka), Libra(Tula), Capricorn(Makara) or water signs such as Cancer(Kataka), Scorpio(Vrischika), Pisces(Meena), then there is a possibility of foreign travel .

It is obvious from the above that Cancer is a powerful sign in this regard as it is both a moveable sign and a watery sign. Thus if the 9th or 12th houses of a horoscope fall in these signs, or if the 9th or 12th house lords fall in these signs, you may deduce that foreign travel is indicated for such natives.

For an example native is going abroad for higher education and in his chart 4th lord is placed in the 9th house which happens to be a moveable sign, or a watery sign, and is conjunct the 12th  lord,

One can say that the native will be traveling abroad for higher education (4th house stands for basic education; 9th house stands for advanced courses/ specializations).

The lord of 9th house rules long journeys and lord of 3rd house governs short journeys. Also, involvement of 3rd house in Yogas related to foreign travel indicate a short-term journey.

When 4th lord is placed in 12th house then native will find more auspicious living in abroad rather than at his native place.

If the lord of 6th house is present in travel related Yogas, the person will travel to foreign country on official assignments assigned by his employer

8th house is the house of longevity and legacies. Being a watery house it also plays an important role in determining the prospects of travelling abroad. Presence of the malefic planet in the 8th house indicates a foreign travel.

Presence of a dual-natured sign such as Gemini(Mithuna), Virgo(Kanya), Sagittarius(Dhanus), Pisces(Meena) or a movable sign (Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) in the 9th house enhances probability of foreign travels as compared to fixed signs.

Twelfth house represents life away from home. If lord of 12th house is inauspicious or debilitated from ascendant, it indicates foreign travels.

If the lord of the house of marriage or the 7th house is associated with 8th, 9th or 12th house, it indicates foreign travel after marriage.

Involvement of Jupiter in the yogas related to foreign trips indicates trips related to participation in religious functions/conferences/activities.

Association of 5th, 9th, and 12th lords in the dasamsha indicate traveling abroad for professional reasons. These persons are usually employed as skilled professional like (scientists, professors, Doctors, Engineers, etc.)in abroad. If the combination of 9th and 10th lord is associated with the 12th house, the native may to take awards in the foreign country,.

Curiously similar combinations will be found in the horoscopes of Indian posted abroad. Similar are the results when 10th and 12th lords of the dasamsha have mutual aspect or association.
It should be noted that while moveable signs indicate travels away from homeland and hence might indicate long stay abroad, common signs indicating foreign travel signify that the person might travel a lot to foreign lands, but there will be no extended stay there

Indication of Foreign Travel

1. Lagna/Lagna lord in a moveable sign/dual signs: if the lagna and lagna lord both are in moveable signs or dual signs then it would indicate foreign travel. Lagna indicates self so when the sign which indicates self and the lord of that sign are in moveable or dual signs which indicates movement it can mean foreign travel for the person.

2. 7th house is the house of foreign country and so is 12th house. 9th house indicates foreign travel(Long distance). So if the lagna or lagna lord makes a connection with the 7th house/7th lord, 9th house, 9th lord or 12th house/12th lord it can mean foreign travel. The connections can be conjunction, aspect, mutual exchange, or one lord placed in another's house.

When most of the planets and houses for foreign travel (7th, 9th, 8th and 12th) are connected with Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn (movable signs), one will undertake many foreign travels

3. Lagna/lagna lord makes connection with Rahu. Rahu again indicates foreign country so it's being placed in lagna or lagna lord in conjunction, mutual aspect with Rahu can mean foreign travel.

4. 4th house signifies home so 4th house/lord in connection (conjunction/mutual aspect/mutual exchange/aspect) with 7th/7th lord, 9th/9th lord or 12th/12th lord can mean foreign travel.

5.The Sun, Moon, Saturn and Rahu are the significators for foreign travel. When these planets occupy the 8th, the 9th or the 12th houses or aspect them, foreign travel is possible

6. The Lagna lord in the 9th house or vice-versa indicates foreign travel.

7. The Moon in Cancer denotes foreign travel as the Moon is a swift moving planet and Cancer is a movable sign.

8. The sign Libra is favourable for foreign travel. If the ascendant, 9th or 10th houses fall in Libra, one has the good chances for foreign travel

      9. When the Lagna and 10th lords are in a movable sign or Navamsa, one can go to foreign country for livelihood.

      10. The Moon, Rahu & Saturn are able to give foreign travel. If these planets are in the Ascendant, the 9th or 10th houses or aspect these houses or their lords, then there is a chance for foreign travel.

       11.  The Lagna lord in the 12th or with 12th lord or 12th lord in Lagna is a strong factor showing residence abroad.

12.  Saturn in the 4th, 7th or 12th house will create the chance to settle down in a foreign country.

Direction of planets and the purpose of travel

Involvement of Sun in Yogas related to foreign travels indicates journeys towards eastern direction and since Sun is the head of solar system and of huge size it also represents long distance travels.

Involvement of Moon in Yogas related to foreign travels indicates journeys towards north-western direction from the place of birth of a person but the travels will be frequent.

Involvement of Mars in these Yogas indicate journey towards southern direction, being an airy planet it indicates a travel of a medium distance by air.

When Mercury is involved it indicates a trip towards northern direction which will be related to business, science and education during higher studies or jobs.

Involvement of Saturn in the Yogas related to foreign travels indicates a trip towards western direction and since it is far away from Sun, it indicates long-distance travels.

Involvement of Venus indicates medium distance travels towards south-eastern direction. These journeys will be related to leisure and entertainment.

Rahu is the planet of secrecy and diplomacy. Therefore, involvement of Rahu in the Yogas related to foreign trips indicates secret journeys and diplomatic visits.

Involvement of Rahu and Ketu is highly inauspicious due to which a person is forced to go to away to a land which is far away from his or her birth place.

Periods When Foreign Travels Are Indicated :

When there are adequate prospects in the natal chart for going abroad, the native may undertake foreign travels during any of the periods mentioned below,
1) The dasha of 7th, 9th or 12th lord, or of planets connected (mutual aspect, conjunction, mutual exchange, aspect) with 7th house/lord, 9th house/lord, 12th house/lord indicates foreign travel.
2) Dasa/ bhukti of the planets that are associated with Moon

11 Dasha of Jupiter can also indicate foreign travel as Jupiter is the 9th and 12th sign (9th and 12th houses are foreign travel) of the Kaalpurush zodiac (natural zodiac).

12) The following factors should be taken into consideration for timing foreign travel:

a). the 9th house
b). planets aspecting the 9th house
c). planets aspecting the 9th lord
d). planets associated with 9th lord
e). 9th lord from the Moon
f)  the lord of the sign where the 9th lord is posited
g) planets in the 8th

The above planets are able to give foreign travel in their dasa-bhukti periods

Gandamoola and Gandant Nakshtras

 Gandmool or Gandant Nakshatra

In Indian Vedic astrology 6  stars ( NAKSHATRAS ); Ashwini, Magha, Moola ( Ketu’s NAKSHATRAS ) & Ashlesha, Jyeshtha and Revati (Mercury’s NAKSHATRAS ) are called Gand Moola Nakshatras.

To understand why Gandanta is known to be inauspicious, we need to understand the creation process. The creation process is cyclical, which starts with the emergence of creation impetus and ends with dissolution of the whole creation to nothing-ness. This cycle can be mapped to the four elements of nature in the oder of Fire, Earth, Air and Water and the whole process of creation and dissolution happen under the ambit of the Ethery element. In the zodiac the whole creation process repeats thrice from the beginning of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, the three fiery signs.

While mapping the creation process with the nakshatra scheme of zodiac reckoning, the three cycles start from Aswini, Magha and Moola. However, before the creation starts the end of the watery signs namly, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, shows the dissolution of the creation. Thus the beginning of the mentioned three fiery signs shows transition from the dissolution phase to creation phase and hence they represent as three nodes in the zodiac, each starting its own process of creation. Hence the person born near to these nodes are caught in the process of transition from destruction of old creation and start of new creation and hence suffer the burnt of it.

Like the start of creation is shown by the beginning of Aswini, Magha and Moola, the end of destruction is represented by Ashlesha, Jyeshtha and Revati, which falls in the ending part of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. Thus the gandanta nakshatras are these six nakshatras with the 4th pada of last nakstras of watery signs and 1st pada of first nakstras in the fiery signs. They are the 4th pada of Revati (Pisces), Ashlesha (Cancer), Jyestha (Scorpio) and the 1st pada of Ashwini (Aries), Magha (Leo) and Moola (Sagittarius).

Thus the gandanta happens whenever there is a transition from watery element to fiery element. Anyone born during such transition has to suffer the trouble due to this transition and suitable remedy is required to alleviate the troubles

The remedy lies in worshipping the Lord of the Lagna/ Moon constellation depending on whether it is Lagna or Rasi  or Thithi gandanta. This deity becomes the “Devata” who can break the weakness due to Gandanta.

Karana and its usage

What does these Karana names mean? Are these words of Sanskrit origin? Does they provide some clues regarding the result derivation? What is the meaning of the word Karana?

The word ‘Karana’ points to actions that can be done, i.e. ‘Karaneeya Karma’. That is, Karana is a pointer towards the work or actions that can be executed in that specified period of time; actions that would yield positive or beneficial results if done in that time.

Philosophical background
This clearly shows that - just like any other limb of time, Karana is also used to evaluate the ‘quality of time to do specific actions’. Note that evaluating the quality of time becomes important only when we accept the predictive astrology. The quality of time at which a work is started or an event took place determines its future; or better as per oriential belief, ‘quality of time’ (Muhurta) is one of the parameters which determines how the future will unfold. Naturally enough other parameters being - environment, own effort and so on. Astrology is not always fatalistic as is thought to be - it leaves plenty scope for environment and effort as well. Fate and Free-will are considered 2 wheels of the same chariot - without one the other is useless. With this basic understanding about the philosophical background of ‘influence of time’ and the ‘use of 5-limbs in selection of time for performing actions’ let us look into the details of Karana division and its use in predictive astrology.

There is a total of 11 Karanas - 7 Chara Karna and 4 Sthira Karana.

Chara means moving and Sthira means fixed. Possibly Chara Karanas got that name because they repeat cyclically, and Sthira Karanas got that name because they don’t repeat.

Chara Karanas
1. Bava, 2. Balava 3. Kaulava, 4. Titila, 5. Gara, 6. Vanija, 7. Vishti
Sthira Karanas
1. Sakuni, 2. Chatushpat, 3. Naga, 4. Kimstukgna/ Koustubha.

1. Bava
In south india this is also know as ‘Simha karnam’ (Lion). Anyway the word Bava has nothing to do with Lion. This word originated from the Sanskrit word ‘Vapa’, which means testacies, sperm, flush, creativity and so on. So naturally as you could expect this karana is good for all Chara deeds (such as journey, daily duties, business etc) and also for Stira deeds (such as sawing seeds, sexual intercourse, for putting foundation stone, worship, temple creation and so on).  Auspicious, Honourable, Business, Starting work, Health

2. Balava
In south india this is also known as ‘Puli karanam’ (Leopard). Anyway the word Balava has nothing to do with leopard. This word originated from the Sanskrit word ‘Vadava’, which means brahmin lady, female horse (mare), slave girl, prostitute and so on. The major meaning considered here is ‘Brahmin lady’. That is why this karana is good for Yajna, Homa (fire worship), study of Veda, for reading epic and puranas etc. It is good for all kinds of Shanti karma. Honour, learning, respect, ceremony

3. Kaulava
In south india this is also known as ‘Panni karanam’ (Pig/Swine). Anyway the word Kaulava has nothing to do with Pig. This word originated from the Sanskrit word Kulapa or Kudava. Kudava is a kind of measurement vessel (also known as Nazhi in south india). 1 Kudava = 32 Tola. Kula means traditional family. so the word Kaula can refer to anyone who follows a traditional path, or traditional job. For example Kulala is the one who creates mud vessels, and Kaulalam is mud vessel. Kaulika is weaver and is also another name for people who follow the traditional Siva-Sakta tantric path of worship. Also remember the word Kaul, popular especially among Kashmiri pundits – essentially pointing to Kaulachara (Kaula system of siva-sakti worship). Thus essentially Kaulava karana is related to family, tradition and any thing worldly. Thus naturally it is good for all Sthira karma (such as friendship, compromise, agreement or anything which we want to stay for long).  Social, Spiritual, Relationships, Marriage.

4. Taitila
In south india this is also known as Kazhuta karnam (Donkey). Anyway the word Taitila has nothing to do with Donkey. This word originated from the Sanskrit word ‘Titir’, which means getting awards, rewards or respect. Titir is a word with great history. Remember the sage Titir based on whom the ‘Taitireeya banch’ of vedic knowledge got its name. It could be because of the reverence to him that the word ‘Titir’ got the meaning respect or reward. Titiksha means patience. There is one very popular English word which originated from the same root word – i.e. ‘Title’. Apart from the meaning ‘heading’, the word ‘Title’ also means ‘entitling’, giving a special name out of respect as a award, reward. Remember the ‘Sir’ title awarded in medieval periods to many, and also the titles ‘Lord’, ‘Dr’ etc. Thus naturally Taitila karana is good for all activities related to king, authority, ornamentation, ornamenting the idols and revered ones and so on. Of course, to be near the kings or people in power and authority without losing head demands a lot of patience as well. For pledge taking, receiving position, charge taking etc usually Taitila karana is preferred.  Speech, communication, promotion, construction.

5. Garane
In south india this is also known as Gaja karana (Elephant). Anyway the word Taitila has nothing to do with Elephant. Here the root word itself is ‘Gara’ meaning hard, difficult, demanding more effort and so on. Remember the words Garima (proud beauty), Gurutva (essence fullness), Garishta (most dense, most valuable), Gareeyan (most revered, great). Actually this word has a better history. In the ancient past the jobs that are considered difficult are cattle/horse/elephant breading, agriculture and rural business of grains, vehicle related and so on; they demand much effort from the villager. Hriha is a word that points to any type of house. The jobs that comes under the category of difficult jobs and the word ‘gara’ points to is cattle shed, horse shed, elephant shed and so on. For example Aswa-gara (horse shed). The vehicle of ancient period is horse, and the place to land the vehicle is ‘Garage’ as per English language. Note that English is also a language of Indo-European language family. The point to note is that it is just due all this that – Gara karana is very auspicious for any hard and difficult jobs, whether it be related to vehicle, cattle, house, machinery, rural business and so on.  Hardworking, Agriculture, new undertakings.

6. Vanija
In south india this karana is known as ‘Surabhi karanam’ (Cow). Anyway the word Vanija has nothing to do with Cow. This word originated from the Sanskrit word ‘Panija’ or Pani meaning Phoenician, businessman or market. Remember the word Vanijya (business) which too is a related word. The word ‘Pani’ or ‘Pany’ means Phoenician or business (In the vedic past the Phoenicians did business with India). Note the presence of this word in the modern day English word ‘company’ (com-pany) – thus company essentially means ‘group business’. Looking at the history of this word it is clear that ‘Vanija’ or ‘Panija’ is a word essentially related to business. Thus naturally this Karana is good for starting a business, selling plot or building or anything of the like and so on.  Wealth, clever, business, relationships.

7. Bhadre / Vishti
In south india this karana is known with this self same name, and it is assumed that the shape of Vishti is similar to a dog. Anyway the word Vishti has nothing to do with dog. Here the root word itself is ‘Vishti’ meaning effort without benefit, work without payment; in short ‘wastage’ of time, money and energy. Vishiti is Vi-Ishti. Ishti is yaga or work. Vi-Ishti is useless Ishti or useless work; i.e. work that got wasted. In short vishti means ‘waste’ – both words (vishti and waste) originated from the same root. Thus naturally this karana is not good for beneficial or good deeds and also for deeds for which we expect some benefit (even punya) in return. Self-reliant, only auspicious for harsh activity, fighting.

8) Sakuni    Sharp mind; interested in speculation; clever; Politicians. Worship, advising, psychic, intelligent, healing
9) Chatushpad (Quadruped)   Normal people; vehicle related jobs. Ancestors, Brahmin, government.

10) Naga   Chance for deformed body at birth; Rebels; don’t value society accepted paths - but instead creates their own paths - or follow traditional tantiric paths not accepted by current society. Angry, destructive, able. Fire like. Cruel deeds, dangerous activities, Unstable.

11) Kausthubha (Kimstughna)   Kausthubha means sandel, gem or elephant. Anyway this is a Karana proper for sages and saints; especially those who follow traditional tantric worship. The nature of the native born in this karana would be similar to the same.  Joyful,Marriage, ceremony,sacrifice..

Badhaka Houses:
1.        The badhaka houses are houses that are harmful to life, and badhaka houses are more harmful for life than maraka houses. The badhaka houses are the 11th for those born in Cardinal(moveable) signs, the 9th for those born in Fixed signs, and the 7th for those born in Mutable(dual) signs

Maraka Houses:
 1.      The 1st, the 8th, and the 3rd are the houses of longevity, and Saturn is the chief governor of longevity..

 3.      The Badhaka Houses are more harmful than the Maraka Houses. So when assessing death, first consider the Badhaka house, and then the maraka house.

Accidents:
1.        Consider houses 8 and 12 for accidents: 8 th serious illness, accident, suicide; 12th self-undoing, confinement in bed or hospital, defects, deformities, amputation or mutilation of a limb, bodily injury.  Mars, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu cause accidents
2.        If the sub lord of either the Ascendant or the 8th house cusp is posited in the star of the occupant or the owner of the 8th or 12th house, there will be an accident.
3.         The danger to the individual's life will likely prove fatal if the sub lord is in the star of either the occupant or the owner of the 8th, 7th, or 2nd.
4.         The individual will survive the accident if the sub lord is in the star of either the occupant or owner of the 2nd, 7th, and 11th.
